Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 August 2026

These terms cover your use of CloseEnough. They're written to be readable rather than impressive. By playing the game or creating an account, you agree to them.

The service

CloseEnough is a free daily estimation game. Every player worldwide gets the same five questions each day. You can play without an account, or create one to save your streak and scores across devices.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the game at any time. We'll try to give notice for anything significant, but we can't promise the game will always be available or that we'll keep running it indefinitely.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity that happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, email us at privacy@closeenoughgame.com.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. One person, one account — please don't create multiple accounts to game the leaderboard or daily average.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why if we do.

Your display name

Your display name is the one thing you publish. When you finish a day while signed in, it appears with your score on a leaderboard that anyone can read, including people without an account. It is also visible to everyone in any group you join.

Because of that, your display name must not:

  • Contain slurs, hate speech, or sexual content
  • Harass, threaten, or target another person
  • Impersonate someone else, or imply you are part of CloseEnough
  • Advertise — no web addresses, handles, or promotion
  • Be another person's real name, or your own if you would rather it were not public

Names are screened automatically when you set them, but no filter catches everything. We may change or blank any display name that breaks these rules, without notice and without needing to explain the specific term. Repeated attempts to get something past the filter will cost you your account.

If you see a name that breaks these rules, use the Report button next to it on any leaderboard. Reports go straight to us and we act on them. You can also email privacy@closeenoughgame.com.

Groups

Anyone can create a group and share its six-character code. Anyone holding that code can join, and codes can be forwarded, so treat a group as visible to anyone the code reaches rather than to the people you personally invited.

The person who creates a group is its leader and can remove members or make them admins; admins can remove ordinary members. Removing someone from a group takes their scores off that group's board — it does not delete their account or affect them anywhere else.

Group names are subject to the same rules as display names, and we may rename or remove a group that breaks them.

Fair play

The game is more fun when the scores mean something. Please don't:

  • Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to play or to submit scores
  • Tamper with the game's code, network requests, or stored data to alter your score or the shared daily average
  • Attempt to extract the answers before playing, or share them in a way designed to spoil the day's puzzle for others
  • Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or to other players' data
  • Scrape or copy the question bank for use in a competing product

We may reset scores, suspend accounts, or exclude scores from the daily average if we believe someone is doing any of this.

One thing worth being straight about: the game currently scores your answers in your own browser, which means a determined person can send a score they did not earn. We check what we can, but until scoring moves to our servers, treat the leaderboard as a bit of fun rather than a competitive record.

Content and ownership

The game — its name, design, questions, code, and everything else in it — belongs to us and is protected by copyright. You may play it and share your score card, but you may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or build a derivative product from it without permission.

You're welcome to share screenshots and score cards on social media. That's the point of them.

Accuracy of questions

We do our best to use accurate, well-sourced answers, but real-world figures change and sources disagree. Answers reflect our best information at the time the question was written. The game is for entertainment — please don't rely on it as a factual reference for anything that matters.

No warranty

The game is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your saved data will never be lost. Keep that in mind before treating a long streak as irreplaceable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the game, including lost data, lost streaks, or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top and announce anything material in the game before it takes effect. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
